Discussion of Chasing Twilight and the nuances of relationship

I bought your book because I heard that it was written as an exchange of emails between two people . . . Last year I rekindled a childhood romance this way. It occurred to me that the Internet lets us relate to each other new ways. It is very different than meeting and getting to know someone. I liked the way that your characters in Chasing Twilight were able to get to know each other in so many ways. Thank you for showing me that the rest of the world does this too.

Eileen,
Thanks so much for your comments on Chasing Twilight. Indeed, the book was written to highlight the notion that the web allows us immediate access to information and relationship like never before. When two people can't be together physically, it heightens their awareness of relationship on other levels. This is like what happens when one of our senses is taken away, say sight, and the senses of smell, sound and touch become more keen. Because the Internet allows us to develop relationships with people we seldom physically encounter, many of us better understand how we relate to each other on the most subtle levels, beyond the senses. The understanding of our intellectual and emotional exchange through words over the web is most obvious. Great debates over the quality of these relationships continue. Through the ages, philosophers have given us many models for the structure of human exchange and many are more dimensional than just physical, emotional and intellectual. I am particularly interested in the exchange of soul and spirit that occurs between people in relationship, and how it effects experience. I hope Chasing Twilight was able to convey some of that to you.

Very truly yours, Molly Brogan

Idon't understand what you mean. Are you talking about something like a soul mate?

Hi Anna, there is lots of fun and trendy new age talk about soul mates around. Most of it makes those of us without loving mates feel guilty that we don't have one. Myths about twin souls date as far back as Egyptian history. These myths do give us an insight into the dynamic of human identity and relationship, like Tristan and Isolde. But that aside, I think that all human interaction contains the elements of soul and spirit that move us along the journey of life in ways that aren't apparent. Ideas about karma tell us that we have ties and experiences with those we love throughout many life times that effect the life we share today. Ideas of Energy Medicine tell us that our bodies are machines for processing energy on an infinite number of levels. Those levels that can't be perceived with our senses or intellect are of the soul and spirit. They say our energy changes when we encounter another person, and a combined or group energy is formed. Goethe wrote about this in his novel, Elective Affinities, with his idea that everyone that comes into our life, changes it. And everyone who comes into the group, changes the group dynamic. If we can become the observer in our own lives, we can witness these changes on the most subtle levels. I would love to hear everyone's ideas about this. Thanks for your post. Molly Brogan

I've done some reading about soul mates. You are not supposed to meet your true soul mate because it would hinder your progress.

I researched the concept of soul mates for my trilogy of novels and found a several different notions of soul mates or twin souls or twin flames. They seem to be used interchangeably, but information can be found on each and they can be considered different concepts. Some do say that you cannot meet your twin flame until you reach a level of awareness like that of a saint or ascended master. Some say that there is only one twin soul for you. The Alice Bailey esoteric teachings are a good example of this. She espoused that twin souls share the same "monad" and are predetermined. Others think that the relationship develops the twin souls into the twin union, and in the sacred space, anyone who understands can become your twin soul. All these theories are fascinating, and I can feel some truth in all of them.

Ah, this is interesting. I've been trying for some time now to write something about "knowing" people we "meet" on the internet and it's been such a myriad of feelings and thoughts about it for me that I keep being confused about it.

This adds yet another aspect I hadn't thought of I think.

Thank you for giving me yet another piece to this puzzle that's been ....well...puzzling me.

Peace to you today.

Thanks for your comment, Rubyshooz. I think that our relationships are primarily an exchange of spirit. We become more and more aware of this over our lifetime. Our ability to form them over the internet reflects the expansion of our common awareness. But then, what came first, the chicken or the egg? By the way, LOVE the shoes. Molly

Hi Molly,

I am beginning to think my shoes might be my best asset online. It's funny because I would never wear that sort of shoe to try and walk around in.

Thank you for your thoughtful response. I think that's an excellent point and one that I am going to put down into my file I have that for a post about online relationships.

I wonder, as I always have, about the chicken and the egg question but I guess many people do.

I hope you have a peaceful beautiful day today.

I find the written word between people over the internet fascinating, with many dimensions.

One of the many things I have noticed about it is that through the written word, without physical contact we are so more at one with our soul and spirit, and quite often words can just pour out as if written by another force!

In a Celestine prophecy kind of theory, it increases the connectivity between people to an astounding volume - and its really exciting to see where its going to lead!

I agree, Tina. With the removal of the physical, as we develop our relationships via telecommunications, our other senses kick in. We become more than our bodies, and our soul and spirit reach out to the other. In my novel, Chasing Twilight, the characters experience physical sensations of being in each others' presence and can feel love on every level, even though they are many miles apart. They have the same experience although they are not communicating in the moment. Like a lucid dream, they feel themselves loving the other emotionally, physically, spiritually and down to their very souls. Only by comparing the experience afterward while talking on the phone, do the characters realize that they have shared this experience at the same time, while physically being in different parts of the country. I know this can happen when two people are tuned into one another. If intimacy is so enhanced that we allow the deepest parts of ourselves to reach out to the other, it is possible to be so completely connected that the experience becomes also physical. Like our spirits filling in the missing piece. Thanks for your post. Molly

You say, "in the sacred space, anyone who understands can become your twin..." Please explain what is meant by "sacred space."
